First of all you need to be protected before you explain your idea to anybody.

Do not send me any unprotected material like sketches, descriptions etc.,

in other words generate proof when the invention occurred. For example you

you can make a simple sketch of you new idea and a short but clear description

and go to the next Currency Exchange and have all sheets notarized.

After that (not before) you might want to ask somebody you trust to sign another

set of papers as a witness (not absolutely necessary ). This gives you already

priority rights against anybody who would claim that he or she had the same

invention idea before or at the same time you did.

If you want to test your prospectus for success first you can leave it with this

method at the beginning. In the USA this kind of proof is fully accepted.

It may not protect you Intellectual Property in foreign Countries.

Therefore, I still urge you to consult a Patent Attorney ASAP and obtain

preliminary protection (Provisional Patent). This is very inexpensive compared

to starting a full Patent Submission. (See legalzoom™ below)

A Patent Search is very important but not inexpensive and not absolutely

necessary at the beginning. You will need a Patent Search before your

Patent Attorney submits your Patent Application the US Patent Office.

Advise for to Do

When you have an idea which you believe is an Invention and represents your Intellectual Property and a Patent Submission should follow, protect your Patent Idea first. The best solution is to obtain a so called "Provisional Patent" for ~$300

Make detailed hand Sketches of various conditions of your invention and mark the components with numbers. These Sketches don't require perfection by any means (not even a ruler) as long as they represent your idea in a manner that a Patent Attorney or a Design Engineer understands your intention

Describe your invention as good as possible and refer to the numbers of your sketches. Also describe what determines the substantial new features in comparison to existing, similar devices.

Bring the patent documentations, described above, to your first Consultation with a Patent Attorney. Ask ,if you want to, for preliminary protection without the cost for a full Patent Submission. After he tells you that it is safe to involve third parties to find: > The Best Technical solutions, create Realistic Images: (Pro/Engineer) Manufacturing of Prototypes etc. > Then go ahead and contact me.

Advise for don't do

Never disclose your invention or documentations to "Anybody" until you have secured your claims or a Patent Attorney confirms that it is safe to share your new invention.
