Shakeproof is the original writer
of the K-Lock specifications.
SP denotes a "small pattern" across the flats. #8SP dimensions are
independent of the Shakeproof specifications. |

Grade 2 Nut Properties |
|
Description |
A six sided internally
threaded fastener with a thickness of (.875 x nominal thread
diameter) and the width is (1.5 x nominal thread diameter). |
|
Appication
& Advantaged |
The most versatile and
widely used nut design. Grade-2 nuts are for use with any low
carbon screw or bolt that is not heat treated, with specified
minimum tensile strenght of 74,00 psi or less. |
|
Material |
A low carbon steel
that comforms to the following:
Carbon: .47% maximum, Phosphorus: .12% maximum,
Sulfur:.23% maximum |
|
Hardness |
Rockwell B68 - C32 |
|
Steel Hot Dip
Galvanized Nut Properties |
|
Description |
A six sided internally
threaded fastener with a thickness of (.875 x nominal thread
diameter) and the width is (1.5 x nominal thread diameter). Made
from steel with a galvanic zinc coating. |
|
Appication
& Advantaged |
The most versatile and
widely used nut design. Grade-2 nuts are for use with any low
carbon screw or bolt that is not heat treated, with specified
minimum tensile strenght of 74,000 psi or less, and subjected to
moisture, salt and other such corrosive conditions. |
|
Material |
A low carbon steel
that comforms to the following:
Carbon: .47% maximum, Phosphorus: .12% maximum,
Sulfur:.23% maximum |

|
Stainless Steel, 18-8 and 316, Nut Properties |
|
Description |
A six sided internally
threaded fastener with a thickness of (.875 x nominal thread
diameter) and the width is (1.5 x nominal thread diameter). Made
from austenitic alloys as described below. |
|
Appication
& Advantaged |
Designed to be used
with stainless steel screws and bolts with a specified minimum
tensile strength equal to or less than the specified proof stress
of the mat inf nut. Both types of stainless are corrosion
resistant with the 316 stainless having a greater amount of
corrosion resistance as well as superior strength at higher
temperatures. |
